Jack Kennedy

Jack Kennedy grew up in the heart of the Apollo program surrounded by astronauts and rocket scientists. He was drawn to computers at an early age as a way to realize his love of math and logic. After building his first computer (a Sol-20) from a kit and finding himself with no programming documentation, he learned assembly language by pure experimentation.

Since then he has gained expertise in all areas of computing, including technical writing. As a systems programmer, Jack has programmed robots for NASA, firmware for Dell, and DOS and Windows drivers for Compaq.

Jack moved to Seattle in 1994 to work on Windows 95 before joining the Microsoft Encarta team as an applications programmer. He has also served Microsoft as a writer and researcher. He has maintained his lifelong passion for math and computer science and in recent years has concentrated on applying these disciplines to the world of web programming.

Jack was early to computers but late to another of his passions, tennis. He was nationally ranked No. 20 in the 30-year-old division after taking up the sport at the ripe age of 34.
